Free Work Hours Calculator

Work out your hours per day, week, month and year from a shift's start, end and break.

What is the Work Hours Calculator?

Work out your hours per day, week, month and year from a shift's start, end and break.

Daily hours equal the end time minus the start time minus the unpaid break. That figure is multiplied by days per week for weekly hours, and by 52 minus your weeks off for the yearly total; the monthly figure is the yearly total divided by 12.

Hours, dates and records are small details that cause big arguments when they are missing. Keeping a clean log protects everyone involved.

Use weeks off to include vacation, public holidays and sick leave so the annual total reflects hours you actually work. The yearly figure is handy for converting an hourly wage into an annual salary estimate.

Record entries on the same day while they are fresh.

Keep dated copies. They are useful for invoices and disputes.

Privacy and where your data goes

Frequently asked questions

How are average monthly hours calculated?

The yearly hours (daily hours x days per week x working weeks) are divided by 12. Because months differ in length, treat it as an average rather than the exact hours in a given month.

Does the break count as work time?

No. The unpaid break in minutes is deducted from each day's span, so a 09:00 to 17:30 shift with a 30-minute break gives 8 hours.

Is the work hours calculator free?

Yes. It is free to use with no signup, no watermark and no usage limits.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your inputs are processed in your browser and saved only in its local storage. They are not uploaded to our servers.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Zapxa works on phones, tablets and desktops. Use the print button or download a PDF to keep a copy.
