What is the Tile Calculator?
Work out how many tiles and boxes you need for a floor or wall area.
It divides the area by the size of one tile plus its grout joint, rounds up, and adds your waste percentage. If you give tiles per box, it rounds up to whole boxes and prices them.
Home and building jobs are easier to price when you know how much material you really need. A quick estimate also helps you avoid buying too little or too much.

Tips for better results
Order extra for cuts, breakage and future repairs, and 15 percent is common for diagonal or patterned layouts. Buy all tiles from the same lot to avoid colour variation.

Frequently asked questions
Does grout spacing change the number of tiles?
Slightly. The joint width is added to each tile's length and width, so wider joints mean fewer tiles per square foot.
How much waste should I add for tile?
The default is 10 percent. Use more for diagonal patterns, large-format tile or rooms with many corners, and ask your supplier.
Is the tile calculator free?

Is my data private?
